Photo Blog Archive, Yea or Nay?
An archive page for my photo blog was never anything I wanted to do, simply because I don’t want people to look at tiny images and quickly scroll by à la Instagram. (I've written about it and it still stands.)
On the other hand, I understand that it can be tricky to get into what the blog is all about, when you are new to it and there is no overview. (This comment by Colin got me thinking.)
Another thing that is getting a bit of an issue recently is me constantly looking up images I previously posted (eg. because I want to reference them) and increasingly having a hard time finding the posts I am looking for because there are so many now.
So I started working on something to resolve that.
My thinking is: If I ever make an overview page of all of the images on the blog, it should be as useful as possible.
This is what I came up with:

It is only a first draft, but it is already incredibly useful. I gained some new insights, e.g., portrait vs. landscape. You might know that I love stats about my photography, and these filters open a whole array of new possibilities for sorting images into different buckets.
I am not yet sure though if I want to ever release this to the public. I think I’d prefer a more guided approach for introducing newcomers to the blog.
I’ll do some more thinking and tinkering. 🙂
