February 2025
How is February over already? Time is moving way to fast for my taste.

Went out to Landschaftspark Duisburg with my friend Daniel. Love getting out there for the sole purpose of taking photographs (and having great conversations) – instead of the day to day hustle to get a shot. Shared the images in several posts on the photo blog: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Visited Parkleuchten in Gruga: It’s always worth a visit. Met up with Daniel again. This time we brought our families along. Had a lovely time, though Ulya and Suvi had to leave early: Too cold and too late for the little one. Again, I shared my images over on the photo blog.

Did not make any progress on the Aile project. I’ll set aside some time for it next month.
-
I created a page with a list of 365 projects that I am following. I’ve gotten some more links since (thanks everyone who sent them in), and I will check them soon.
Media Consumption
-
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man on Disney+: I’ll watch anything with Spider-Man it in. Wasn’t super sold on the art style in the beginning (“Into the Spider-Verse” taking the cake here, imho), but the story arc was good. Enjoyable!
-
The Night Agent on Netflix: I remembered that I enjoyed the first season, so I started to watch the second one. Good pacing, interesting characters. It is always refreshing if it is not so clear cut, who’s actually the bad guy.
-
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep on Netflix: Who doesn’t like hearing Doug Cockle voicing Geralt? That alone is a reason to watch this! Typical Witcher.
-
Look Back on Prime Video: Saw this mentioned a lot on Mastodon and people were raving about it. It’s just an hour long. Really heartfelt. When artists make something about their art, it is always bound to be interesting.
-
Absolution on Prime Video: Kinda quiet. Not the typical Liam Neeson, but also quite typical Liam Neeson’ish. His look is definitely different in this one. Was ok.
-
Berlin ER on Apple TV+: Very intense pacing. Only two episodes out. Love seeing a German series doing something “different”. Liked it so far.
-
Still holding out on season two of Severance. I watched a season 1 recap on YouTube, because I couldn’t remember even half of the stuff that was going on. Looking forward to binging it, once all the episodes are out.

Botchamania: So much inside baseball (eg. wrestling fans creating signs about video games, etc., just to appear in a Botchamania episode), and raw, unpolished creativity, including those endings, short clips after the episode, which sometimes make up half of the episode. The callbacks! Everything about these is great. Oh, it’s about wrestling.
-
Lee Jones: I think my favorites are the early videos, where he is doing the monotone, almost detached voice narration. Love the energy and the photographs. Brilliant.
Family & Miscellaneous
-
Went to the swimming pool with the kids. Had fun overall. Lumi has never been very keen on going into the water, let alone diving. Reminds me very much of myself at a young age. I hated getting my head under water. Never got the “Seepferdchen”, but later in life a diving license. 🤷♂️

Had planned a visit from an old friend from school. We go way back. I don’t even know when we met up IRL the last time. Took himself out by doing “sports” (hernia), and so we have to reschedule. Poor bastard. (Speedy recovery, if you read this! 🙂)
-
Elections in Germany. I always do postal voting. Went to a polling stating anyway to show Lumi how it works. She was very interested in the whole thing and had many questions. The election results? What can I say? What a shit show. #fcknzs and #fckafd.

Test drove a Brompton for the first time. I really want one, but can’t really justify buying one, because its usefulness might come in 2 or 3 times a year, which is really not that much considering the high price. But it’s beautiful and drives really well for a bike with such small tires. Maybe I can talk myself into more use cases…

Took part in the Photo Composition Challenge. Kind of fun thinking more technically about taking pictures. I mean I know about all of these “rules”, but I never actively try to use them. After all these years framing just happens automatically, by feel.
March preview: We’ll have to organize a birthday party, Ulya will start university and I am going to visit Claudio.
