Aile
«Aile» is the Turkish word for family and the working title of an ongoing documentary project I started in 2019. (This is a working title, that will change in the future.)
- All work is in color for this one.
- The goal is to create a photo book.
- The book will most likely contain some text as well.
Project Log
2025-01-10: Jotted down some notes about themes the book could be about. This is the trickiest part, I think: Figuring out what exactly I want to say, what feelings do I want to convey with the images? I have some ideas and matching images in mind, but I need to figure out if it makes sense in the end. This is all pretty hard to explain… Also: How much explaining do I want to do text-wise, if any?
I also went through all of the images once today, and started doing some basic sorting of what I consider the best images and ones I think might play into the aforementioned “themes”. At this point I am going with my gut. Let’s see where it leads me.
2025-01-08: The prints arrived.
2024-12-31: Ordered 853 of the project images as small format prints.
2019-2023: Took photos during various trips to Turkey. The whole archive consists of around 10.000 images.
